Derek Kissos · Founder

I have spent my career growing businesses. This one is mine.

DomRose is one operator in Dripping Springs, Texas, working with owners who built something real and want it to grow past the hours they have.

Where I come from

I enlisted in the Army in 2005 and served fifteen months in Iraq. After that I worked in strategy at the Pentagon, where I learned that a plan is only as good as the people who have to carry it out on a bad day.

Then I moved into the private sector and stayed: enterprise software, then growth and operations leadership. I have sold for a living, built new lines of business, and sat on both sides of the table when a deal gets priced.

What I learned

Strategy is rarely the hard part. Making it survive the operating environment is. A good idea dies somewhere between the person who decided it and the person who has to do it on Tuesday.

In an owner-run business, those are often the same person, and that person is also answering the phone. That is the problem I like working on.

Why DomRose

I wanted to build a firm that an owner could trust in one conversation. That meant a fixed price, a short engagement, one clear recommendation, and no pressure to buy the next thing.

It also meant building the firm the way I advise owners to build theirs. DomRose has no employees. Software keeps the pipeline and drafts the documents. Nothing gets hired until a client has paid for it. I am writing down how that goes, including what breaks.
